Open to any individual or group home brewer(s) regardless of location and/or club affiliation. Any beer brewed by more than one individual must list the names of all brewers. All entries must be brewed at home or non-commercial sites. Entries brewed at any brewpub, brewery, or other commercial facility, including “Brew-on-Premises” or “U-Brew” type establishments, are not eligible.
Competition organizers, sponsors, judge directors, registrars, judges, and stewards may enter the competition if they wish. Measures will be taken to ensure fair, anonymous, and accurate judging. No judge or steward will be assigned to a category they have entered.All BJCP (2008) styles & sub-styles EXCEPT categories
5d, 17, 20, 21, 22c, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, and 28 are eligible. Awards will be given in the following groups:
Group A (Light Ales & Lagers) - BJCP Categories 1, 2, 6a-c, 7b
Group B (Pale Ales) - BJCP Categories 8, 10a, 14
Group C (Mild Amber & Brown) - BJCP Categories 3, 4, 5a-b, 7a, 7c, 9a-d, 10b, 10c, 11
Group D (Wheat & Rye Beers) - BJCP Categories 6d & 15
Group E (Dark Beers) - BJCP Categories 12, 13a-e
Group F (Strong & Smoked Beers) - BJCP Categories 5c, 9e, 13f, 18b-e, 19, 22a, 22b
Group G (Belgian & French Ales) - BJCP Categories 16, 18a
Each sub-style of a BJCP style can be entered only once. The entrant is responsible for placing their entry in the proper style/sub-style. No entries will be reclassified. Visit the BJCP webpage at http://www.bjcp.org/stylecenter.html for more information on style guidelines.
For each entry submit three (3) 12-ounce BROWN bottles that are free of any labels, raised lettering, or other distinguishing marks. Green, clear, any other color and any other size bottle will not be accepted. If a printed cap is used all printing must be blacked out with a permanent black marker. Swing top bottles are not permitted. Entries not meeting these requirements will not be judged! Each bottle must have a completed bottle label attached with a rubber band.
$5/entry. First
entry for judges/stewards/volunteers is free.
Checks/money orders should be made out to Bull Falls Homebrew Club. NO CASH.
Shipped entries should be packaged carefully to avoid breakage and leaking. There will be no refund for entries damaged in transit.

Shipped entries will be accepted from April 4 – April 11, 2008.
Entries should be shipped via Federal Express or UPS. DO NOT USE the United States Postal Service.
Entries can be dropped off at the main bar at Hereford & Hops (address above) on April 12 from 3pm – 7pm ONLY.
Out-of-town judges will be reimbursed for shipping charges for their entries. ALL BEERS ARE DUE APRIL 12!!!
There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards for all groups in which there are at least three entries with at least a minimum score of 25 points.
The first place winner of each category will advance to the
Best of Show round where the judges will determine the Best of Show
winner. Previous scores from the
original judging will not apply to this round. The first place winner of each category must attain a score of at least
30 points in order to advance to the Best of Show round.
The Best of Show winner will have their beer commercially
brewed by Hereford & Hops Steakhouse & Brewpub (Wausua, WI). To be eligible to have the beer commercially
brewed, the entrant agrees to provide their beer recipe after winning the
award. The recipe will become the
property of Hereford & Hops and will be used for a single commercial
brewing of the winning beer.
Hereford & Hops will attempt to maintain the integrity
of the homebrewer’s recipe, however, modifications to recipes will be subject
to modification for commercial volume brewing.
Hereford & Hops reserves the right to brew the beer at
an appropriate seasonal time consistent with the beer style.
The winner of the Best of Show Award will be invited to
assist the brewer at Hereford & Hops with scaling up the recipe and brewing
the beer.
The winner of the Best of Show award will be asked to name
their beer. Hereford & Hops has the
right for final name selection.
If the winner of the Best of Show award is a member of the American Homebrewers Association at the time of the competition then every effort will be made to enter their beer will in the Pro-Am category of the Great American Beer Festival. Judging is not open to the public. Bull Falls Brewers Homebrew Club, Central Wisconsin Draught Board, and/or Hereford & Hops reserve the right to disqualify any entry.

The Bull Falls Brewers Homebrew Club, Central Wisconsin Draught Board, and Hereford & Hops
are solely responsible for the conduct of this contest. All recipes, leftover beer, and empty
bottles become the property of the Bull Falls Brewers Homebrew Club, Central Wisconsin Draught Board, and
Hereford & Hops. Entry into this
competition shall constitute permission for the Bull Falls Brewers Homebrew
Club, Central Wisconsin Draught Board, and/or Hereford & Hops to publish
all results and recipes.
