Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting July 9, 2003
From the President:
There were 10 members present at H&H Thursday, July 9th.
Most of the official discussion revolved around the quickly approaching 1st
Annual Bull Falls Brewers Homebrew Festival and Competition.
The confirmed date is Sunday, September 14th. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!
Discussion Topics:
1. Liability: Mike Roman brought up the fact that Wisconsin has
good laws that protect groups like ours. Liabilty shouldn't be an issue.
The biggest concern is checking for minors.
2. LLC: We discussed declaring the club as an LLC, which would protect
the individual members from litigation and damages. The cost is $130 and
could be accomplished rather easily. Since we have a possitive balance in
the account, this would be a good opportunity.
3. Judging group: We discussed possible people to have on the judging
panel. Kevin said he would like to take part. He is also going to ask his
tasting panel if they would like to take part. Other names mentioned were
Jerome (formerly of Central Waters), (John?) Zappa from the Point Brewery),
and the brewmaster from the Log Jam Brewery. Other suggestions are welcome.
4. Styles: We decided on the following styles for the competition
(pale ale, porter, stout, fruit beer, weizen, lager, american ale, and misc.).
5. Other clubs: We really need to get the word out to other clubs.
Mike Roman has tried to contact the Green Bay Rackers, unsuccessfully. If
you know members from other clubs, please tell them about the fest or give
contct information to me so I can contact them.
6. Committee: A committee will meet to make arrangements for the
festival. A separate email will follow.
Thanks to those who were able to come last Thursday. Hope to see lots of
you at the Homebrew Festival meeting.
