Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting May 13, 2004

We had 17 members present at tonights meeting. That is including some new faces.

Mike Roman and Bill Flood gave a recap of the AHA Brew day at Mark Buttera's house on May 1. The beer brewed was an Imperial IPA. Kevin donated the yeast for this brew. Some of the members were able to take a carboy of the IPA home.

Mark Buttera invited everyone from our club to brew individual batches on June 25---more information should follow at June's meeting.

The all grain brew at Jeff Beren's house on June 5 is approaching fast. They will start at 9am. 60 gallons of beer will be brewed. Kevin donated the grain for this brew. Mike Roman is checking into getting yeast from the Point Brew Supply. If you are interested in taking home 6 gallons of this brew, I believe it will be a German beer, Bill and Jeff need to know asap so they are able to adjust the recipe. Even if you are not going to purchase some of the brew, come have some fun with the brewing. As always beer is welcome. A dish to pass is a must. Jeff and Kris have offered to make barbeque and purchase buns, they have asked that everyone pitch in a few dollars to cover the cost. Joanne and Bill will bring napkins and Matt and Jen will provide food boats and utensils. Mike Zamzow offered his counterflow for this brew. If you have a King Cooker to bring with, it will help to maintain the temperature of the water.

Bill Flood gave a presentation on hops. There was something learned by everyone. Bill also brought in Pearl Hop Rhizomes. Happy planting to all who brought some home. Bill agreed to give another presentation on hops later in the summer. Thanks for the great presentation.

In case you did not the see the Channel 9 news "Does It Work" tonight, Eric Mrotek tested the "Eggstractor". It does work.

See you all at the all grain brew at Jeff's house

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer. -- Dave Barry

People who drink light "beer" don't like the taste of beer; they just like to pee alot. --Capital Brewery, Middleton, WI
