Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting August 12, 2004

The August 12th meeting was called to order by our president Mark Strehlow. 18 members were present.

First item of business was the brochure. Mike Roman brought a gray scale copy of what the brochure looks like now. Mike Roman moved to have a group get together after the meeting to discuss any changes that may need to made on the brochure. It was also said that $50 will be set aside for making black and white copies of the brochure. Mike Roman also brought up possible places to display the brochure. Places mentioned: Hereford & Hops, Marathon County Library, UW Extension, Trigs grocery store, Lil 'O Winemaker Shop, Point Brew Supply. Joanne Flood is going to get a definite price on the copies. We are well on our way in getting the brochure done.

Rod Meydam mentioned a lead on bottles at a cheap price located by Don Smiths Sales.

Discussion about having another brew contest was discussed. Mark Buttera said he would be interested in hosting an event with our club. A committee was formed to discuss this. Either Bill Flood or Mike Roman will be arranging these meetings. Please watch the list serve for further information regarding the brew contest.

Bill discussed putting together another big brew. Kevin (H&H) has offered yeast for another all-grain brew. Mike Roman suggested a porter beer for this brew. Majority hands agreed to have this in October.

Mark Strehlow researched fresh hops. He said they are best used in the boil or for dry hopping.

Mark Strehlow gave a brief run down of what the monthly meetings consist of for the new members and guests.

Mike Roman volunteered to do a presentation on pro-mash at the next meeting with the help of Bill Flood's laptop. Mike briefed us on what Pro-Mash is to prepare us for the next meeting.

Bill Flood would like everyone to look for apple trees that will need picking for the annual Apple Fest. The date still needs to be hammered out, but it will probably be in September.

This was a great meeting. Huge turnout and lots of great discussion. Ted Sanders was present and thanked everyone for their support.

See you all next month.
