Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting December 14, 2006
The December meeting was called to order at Black Diamond Pub & Grub in Marathon by our president Bill Flood.
A potential new member joined us after learning about us at November's
Brew B.L.A.S.T at Hereford & Hops. We went around the table
introducing ourselves and giving a bit of history on how and why we
started brewing and why we enjoy it.
Brett Danke gave the Treasurer's Report:
$ 1.01 earned in interest for Nov/Dec.
$421.44 savings
$ 73.76 cash
TOTAL: $495.20
Bill talked about the Ice Cold Beer Fest in Minocqua on Jan. 6 and
solicited members for beers and help with the club's booth at the
event. Brett, Greg, and Bill all said they would attend and help.
Discussion turned to the Golden Growler competition brew Northern
English Brown Ales. Bill presented info from "Designing Great
Beers" regarding recipe design. Travis Skroch also presented some
info he found on the web regarding history of Brown Ales and common
malts, hops, and yeast selection. A few members had some NE and
SE Brown Ales to share with the club and get feedback on.
Ryan Hall mentioned he has found a 500 gallon copper kettle for $100
and wondered if the club would be interested. Bill is going to
check out the kettle and will make a decison on buying it.
Brett Danke spoke a bit about the 2007 Upper Mississippi Mashout and
invited people to enter and attend this event in Minneapolis.
Our next meeting will be Jan. 14 and is our annual holiday dinner party
at Hereford and Hops at 7pm. More details regarding the dinner
will come via e-mail to members. If you have beer related items
you would like to donate for a club raffle please let Bill know.
