Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Business Meeting July 12, 2007, 6:30pm - Marathon Park, Wausau, WI
Bill Flood called the business meeting to order at 6:30pm.
Bill reported he is still working on getting some ideas and costs for
retrofitting our big copper kettle. The stainless vessel we
purchased last year is having legs fabricated onto it.
We discussed the Edgar Steam show and decided to see if there was desire to do it at the general meeting.
There was a lot of discussion regarding running a BJCP sanctioned
contest in Wausau next spring. We decided it should be called the
Golden Growler and be both a BJCP event as well as preserve the current
Golden Growler inter-club competition. Both would be held the
same day.
The business meeting was never officially ended, it just sort of broke down as people started arriving and cooking out.
Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers General Meeting July 12, 2007, 6:30pm - Marathon Park, Wausau, WI
Bill Flood called the general meeting to order around 8:30pm.
Travis Skroch announced a couple of homebrew competitions coming up
this fall. Central Water's "Great Heron Open" and the
Racine/Kenosha area's "Schooner Festival".
Brew B.L.A.S.T will be held at Hereford & Hops in Wausau again this
November. Time to start thinking about brewing a beer for the
event!
There was discussion about whether to participate in the Edgar Steam
Show again. There were a few people interested and Jeff Behrens
said he would be willing to get our spot at the show again and help
organize. Anyone interested in brewing at the steam show should
talk to Jeff.
Bill Flood will look into renting a bus for a summer cookout event at
Central Waters Brewpub in Wausau. Travis Skroch's beer will go on
tap for the festival and he has a half barrel to share with the club.
Mike Roman updated us on the status of some legislation that would
effect small breweries in Wisconsin. The legislation was tabled
before our meeting, but he expects to see it come up again in some new
form. Everyone is urged to contact their state representative and
ask them to defeat the bill in it's current form.
We discussed taking the Golden Growler "to the next level" and
combining forces with Hereford & Hops to hold a BJCP sanctioned
beer competition. Everyone agreed we should take a shot at
pulling this off. Travis Skroch will follow up with registration
($35). If anyone is interested in helping organize this event
please contact Bill Flood or Travis Skroch to get put on the mailing
list.
The meeting never officially adjourned. A handful of people did
some tasting/judging of a couple beers for the July newspaper article.
Respectuflly submitted,
Travis Skroch - Secretary
