Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting Sep. 13, 2007, 7:00pm - Hereford & Hops, Wausua, WI
Bill Flood called the business meeting to order at 7:15pm.
There were about 15 members present and one new potential member.
Travis Skroch mentioned that Brew B.L.A.S.T is coming up in early
November and we should be thinking about having some beers ready for
the event.
Travis also mentioned that we're waiting on the other clubs to meet
this month and decide on letting us expand the Golden Growler.
Bill Flood talked about this year's Applefest. Volunteers are
needed to pick apples the week of Sep. 24 - 28. Watch the
e-mail list for more info. Apple pressing will take place at
Bill's home on the 29th. Again watch the list for more details.
People are welcome to bring their own apples in too, just make
sure they are quality apples - nothing rotten or too beat up. It
takes about 22 lbs. of apples to make 1 gallon of juice. You will
receive juice in proportion to how many apples you bring in and/or how
much volunteer help you put in.
Applefest discussion was a perfect segway into the evening's topic -
Hard Cider. Mike Roman presented some history about hard cider
and how the ciders in Europe differ from North America. He
brought in 4 commercial examples as well for tasting. Travis
Skroch, Bill Flood, and Brett Danke all spoke a bit about their
experiences making cider and passed a couple home brewed samples around.
As the meeting was winding down Travis Skroch mentioned that this
month's beer tasting/evaluating for the newspaper will be locally
crafted Oktoberfest beers. More info about tasting date &
time will be on the e-mail list.
The club decided to buy a couple pitchers of beer from the bar.
The meeting was never officially adjourned, but broke down into typical
beer discussion. A few finished the discussion at the bar and
retired for the night.
