Minutes from Bull Falls Brewers Meeting Oct. 11, 2007, 7:00pm - Hereford & Hops, Wausua, WI

Bill Flood called the business meeting to order at 7:22pm.  There were 16 members present.

Discussion about the recent Applefest:
    Cub scout troop was present
Miss Purdue contestant Amy Pflugshaupt from Channel interviewed the crew
2500 lbs of apples made 130 gallons of juice at 1.052 starting gravity
There were several apples used in the pressing, including large Wolf River apples which were challenging to smash.

Fellow member Travis Skroch is currently at the GABF competing for the Pro-Am title.  Good luck!

Teach a Friend to brew day will be Nov. 3 at a location yet to be decided (possibly Bill Flood's home).  Kevin Bowen from H&H has 50 pounds of  smoked malt to donate, and Travis also has 50 pounds of 2 row pale malt to donate for the day.  More info will be posted on the e-mail list and website.

Brew B.L.A.S.T will be Nov. 10th at H&H.  Our club will have a booth.  If you have beer to donate for the evening let the club know.

The Golden Growler is now an officially AHA/BJCP sanctioned event.  It will be held April 22.  More about this event will be discussed at the December meeting.

Mike Roman made a motion to skip the traditional Thursday night meeting in November and replace it with the Teach-A-Friend and Brew BLAST events.  Tom Zahasky seconded.  Motion carried.

Treasurer's Report:  $658.40 in savings, $127.56 in cash, $785.96 total.  Money will be coming in soon for the monthly article Travis has been writing.

The club bought a copper vessel for $100 a year ago and we're still trying to figure out what to do with it.  It is 5' in diameter and 4.5' tall.  It is thin walled and would require some kind of structure built around it to keep it from bowing.  The club discussed the vessel's future including selling it, storing it for a while, and engineering it for use.  No decision was made.

The Ice Cold Beer Festival is January 5th, 2008 in Minocqua.  This is the 10th anniversary.  Start thinking about brew for this one.

Scott and Greg discussed a couple of Belgian styles.  Scott presented a quadruple on cherries, and an eised version of the same beer.  Gregg brought a dubble on Door County cherries.

The meeting was never officially adjourned, but broke down into typical beer discussion.  A few finished the discussion at the bar and retired for the night.
